Contacts: Seneschal for Ildhafn Shire Brief: Medieval reinactment, including full contact melee. The SCA is the world's most established medieval reinactment organisation. Many of the activities they organise relate to medieval arts and crafts, but they also organise combat events and character roleplaying is encouraged at their events. For combat they use full-body armour, mostly made of steel, chain, and hardened leather, and hard rattan (wooden) swords. Combat is full contact and somewhat brutal by comparison to soft-weapon LARP. The genre is a mixture of historical periods. All pre-17th century Western cultures are encompassed.
