23 November 1999	The new menu is now been added to all my pages. Put your cursor over the home icon () above. If the page does not have a home icon then try the help icon.
12 November 1999	Wow! A big gap of nothing and then lots of changes. The primary change is no more frames. They were handy for navigation but used too much screen space. A final straw was a bug in the new Yahoo!Geocities ad code. There is now a new snazzy menu on my main page. It will be added to my other pages as soon as I find a good menu icon (it will appear when you put the mouse over the image rather than be permanently displayed).

25 February 1999	Three new huts in my List of New Zealand Huts from the Abel Tasman Coastal Track (trip report soon!). The pages in the list have also been split into two and revamped to make them load faster.
10 February 1999	I have just finished the Abel Tasman Coastal Track which is one of the easiest and most scenic Great Walks in New Zealand. A trip report on it will be published real soon now!
27 January 1999	More photographs for the Big Picture Gallery (four pictures taken along the White Cliffs of Dover). Various small changes including adding hike/hiking to some titles to allow Americans to find my pages.
14 January 1999	I have created The Simple Guide to Gaelic to help you pronounce and translate simple Gaelic place names on my site and on Scottish maps.
10 January 1999	Happy New Year ! The West Highland Way has been finished!
10 November 1998	I recently upgraded to SoftQuad's HoTMetaL Pro version 5.0 with its much improved user interface. This has encouraged me to restructure my site for easier maintenance. There may be a few glitches along the way!
01 November 1998	I have started a new trip report - The West Highland Way - about a great walk in Scotland from the outskirts of Glasgow to the flanks of Ben Nevis. Currently there is just the introduction but all 10 pages already have a photo each.
6 October 1998	Since the Big Picture Gallery has become more important (and bigger!), I have moved the link to it to my main page
4 October 1998	The start of a new section of general pages on tramping (hiking) in New Zealand with some notes on tramping, a list of National Parks and a list of Great Walks. More to follow!
28 August 1998	A new trip report on a nice little 3 day trip over the Blue Range in the Tararua Ranges.
21 August 1998	I have removed the Geocities icon from my pages since the GeoGuide has the same purpose. Lots more links in the Pennine Way, Cleveland Way and Coast-to-Coast Walk pages.
19 August 1998	The Big Picture Gallery has 4 more pages containing pictures from the The Tongariro Northern Circuit
23 July 1998	I have removed the Table of Contents applet since the requirement for frames exposed a bug in the GeoCities branding program (and I don't like frames anyway - especially invisible ones that don't tell you that the page has frames).
22 July 1998	The Virtual Fly-by of Wellington has been moved to Geocities. I have loaded the latest version of the Table of Contents applet.
17 July 1998	My List of New Zealand Huts has been revamped with the introduction and sundry hut photos moved onto new pages. There are now 43 huts described!
21 June 1998	All my pages that were on Compuserve (ourworld.compuserve.com) have been moved to Geocities. I have left redirection pages behind. In a month or so, I will do a big search for any links to the old pages and advise the owners before I actually delete the pages. The Big Picture Gallery has 4 more pages.
8 June 1998	All of The Scottish Munros are finished!
1st June 1998	I have uploaded a page for all of the Scottish Munros that I have climbed. Some of these are still under construction but have at least 1 photo on them. Have a look at my Pages about Scotland or The Munros.
24 May 1998	The Big Picture Gallery has been revamped - 8 more pictures for a total of 24, the index has been moved to separate pages and each page has been changed to look better with all the navigation buttons on the right.
21 May 1998	The Tongariro Northern Circuit with its marvellous pictures is finished! I have also added some more stuff to Some New Zealand Phrases
3 May 1998	I have started on The Tongariro Northern Circuit. While this is not complete, the photos are so good that I have decided to publish it while I write the trip report.
20 April 1998	A couple of new huts from my latest tramping trip (the Northern Tongariro Circuit): Mangatepopo Hut and Oturere Hut I have also moved some stuff off my main page to speed loading up
30 March 1998	A new page about my trip up to Cone in the Tararuas and camping for a couple of nights in order to see the views: Camping on Cone My pages on the Scottish Munros have a slightly different format.
7 March 1998	I have updated the Southern Crossing of the Tararuas with more and bigger pictures.
25 February 1998	A new page (at last!): Mt Angelus, a marvellous walk up along Robert Ridge in the Nelson Lakes National Park (NZ) to Mt and Lake Angelus with the best sited hut in NZ.
11 February 1998	You may have noticed that my pages are loading faster. I have started to cut down the size of my images using the JPEG and GIF Smartsavers from ULead which came with my latest upgrade of HoTMetaL Pro (the editor I use to create my pages). There may be some variations in quality and appearance of my graphics during this process.
22 January 1998	All of my pages from the About NZ/England/Scotland now point back there. This will make it easier for you to have a look at all my pages about a country. Have a look at my first sketch map (with links!) for the Southern Crossing of the Tararuas (NZ)

14 October 1997	My first new page in about a month. I have delved into my archives for a Munro: Beinn na Lap, a modest hill with tremendous views.

29 July 1997	Finished the Coast-to-Coast Walk as far as leaving Borrowdale (photos and text) with more text as far as the Keld to Reeth section.

13 July 1997	The Virtual Fly-by of Wellington is ready for viewing with my first image map! Have a look and see what you think. Lots of cosmetic changes with more graphics placed on various pages. The graphics were produced from the Instant 3D product from Micrografx - more have been put in the My Stuff gallery.
8 July 1997	To celebrate becoming a Featured Page, I have started The Big Picture Gallery- a selection of my best photos in a larger format (best viewed at 800*600 screen resolution)
6 July 1997	I'm a Featured Page now!!! Have a look for me on the Yosemite main page. I will have to think of something to celebrate this. Meanwhile there are plenty of cosmetic changes to cater for the new GeoGuides banner.
30 June 1997	I have finally inplemented a non-Java index for those of you who distrust Java's security.
25 June 1997	I have decided not to maintain 3 home pages on Compuserve, my local ISP and Geocities anymore. Instead, the Geocities page is automatically invoked by the other two pages.
22 June 1997	I have started on another trip report (The Coast to Coast Walk - this may take a while to complete since it was a long journey (20 or so days). So far I have finished the introduction with the other pages sketched in.
15 June 1997	The Tararua Peaks is finished! Plenty of photos illustrate my best (and toughest) trip in the Tarauas yet.
10 June 1997	A new look for my main page. It was getting rather large, so I have split it up. Follow the flags!
8 June 1997	My latest tramping report (The Tararua Peaks) is now in a viewable state with all its photos and most of the text.
2 June 1997	There was a really good site - Wellington City Walk-Around which gave a virtual tour of the waterfront and streets of Wellington (good photos and plenty of information). It has inspired me to use some of my photos in a Virtual Fly-by of Wellington giving an overview of Wellington - STILL UNDER CONSTRUCTION.
24 May 1997	I have started on a new tramping report - The Tararua Peaks - still under construction.
18 May 1997	A few minor spelling corrections and some more New Zealand phrases.
13 May 1997	I have gone through all my pages and made sure they all have a link back to the Geocities Yosemite neighbourhood and that all my home page links also point to Geocities. This took a while - I have over 80 pages!
6 May 1997	I have added a page of Some New Zealand Phrases - fairly small at the moment but will increase.
29 April 1997	Small changes to The Pennine Way (England & Scotland) and The Cleveland Way - I have added navigation buttons to the bottom of the pages. I has also found a way around the moire patterns on some of my small images with strong parallel lines (eg. corrugated iron roofs) - the trick is to blur the picture before reducing in size and then sharpen it up again. Some affected photos have been updated.
26 April 1997	More huts added to my list of NZ huts bringing the total up to 36 huts. Added a new photo to Northern Crossing of the Tararuas along with a new format for photos on my pages.
23 April 1997	Northern Crossing of the Tararuas is finished though I am looking for more photos to put on it. The Tararuas are looking good today with the first snowfall of the year glistening in sunlight.
7 April 1997	A bit of a gap in updating these pages since I spent a bit of time planning, executing and recovering from my toughest tramping trip yet.
25 March 1997	A new page! New Zealand Tramping Resources is a list of resources (mostly on the web) that I have found useful in planning my trips.
20 March 1997	I have made a start on the Northern Crossing of the Tararuas. There will be lots of text here since my camera packed up on the first day.
18 March 1997	Mt Arthur, Tablelands and the Cobb Valley is finished! This is my largest single page so far with lots of text and 9 photos. Drop in and see it - you may have to wait a bit while the images load but they are definitely worth it.
5 March 1997	Compuserve have been having a few problems with their Web server (a 3 week outage, access to some files abnormally slow and sometimes unable to update my site) so I am starting to fill the space that I have on other servers first. Hopefully I will catch all the links to any moved pages before you notice it.
24 February 1997	The Cleveland Way trip report is finished! I have also started 2 new trip reports: Mt Arthur, Tablelands and the Cobb Valley, a 5 day trip into the new Kahurangi National Park (marvellous scenery, great tramping). Northern Crossing of the Tararuas, comparable to the Southern Crossing but also tougher, longer and with wilder scenery.
6 February 1997	Now that CompuServe have finally fixed access to their web server, I have managed to upload lots of changes - more text and pictures for The Cleveland Way, an updated list of my tramping trips, a few more huts added to my list of NZ huts (no photos unfortunately) and lots of spelling corrections.
15 January 1997	I have started to write a trip report for The Cleveland Way around the North Yorkshire Moors in England.
13 January 1997	My list of NZ huts (29 huts now!) has been moved to my CompuServe space since I now have 5MB to fill. I have also split the listing alphabetically into 6 pages.
21 December 1996	A couple of more huts on My list of NZ huts that I have visited (19 huts): Blue Range and Harris Creek (both in the Tararuas).
11 December 1996	I have added a new page to my sundry photos: Mount Cook. Some of the photos I took last year in the Mt Cook National Park.
4 December 1996	New trip reports: Stob Ban and Mullach nan Coirean (Western Mamore Ridge) An Gearanach, Stob Coire a'Chairn, Am Bodach, Sgor an Iubhair and Sgurr a'Mhaim (Central Mamore Ridge) I have also been on my first club trip with the Wellington Tramping and Mountaineering Club - see my tramping summary page.
23 November 1996	Lots of changes: A new look for my home page - I have split the trip reports into different countries. I have upgraded the Table of Contents to TOC version 2.0. This adds scroll bars when needed. New trip report - Saileag, Sgurr na Ciste Duibhe and Sgurr Fhuaran New trip report - Sgorr Dhonuill and Sgorr Dhearg The Pennine Way (England & Scotland) has been upgraded - a couple of new photos (more to follow), more links on the first page, more text added and some spelling mistakes corrected.
16 November 1996	The last couple of Munros that I have done from Bridge of Orchy : Beinn Achaladair and Beinn a'Chreachain

10 November 1996	I have added a new page to my sundry photos: The White Cliffs of Dover. A few photos taken on a 2 day walk in preparation for the West Highland Way. The first day was along the cliffs from Dover to Kingsdown, along the beach to past Deal and then a little inland to Sandwich. The second day was along the River Stour heading for Canterbury but ending at a pub at Plucks Gutter. These photos are all from the first day.
8 November 1996	The Cone Ridge trip report has been finished.
31 October 1996	Another trip report for a 6 day journey in April 1994 into the Tararuas has been started: Cone Ridge.
21 October 1996	Major change: I have moved the page of NZ huts to my local providers site - My list of NZ huts that I have visited (17 huts). Minor change: Mail is now pointed at my local account.
16 October 1996	I have added a page of icons with transparent backgrounds (just bullets as on this page at the moment). I have also revamped my homepage slightly and updated my list of tramps
1 October 1996	The Eastern Mamore Ridge. is finished. As an added, extra bonus I have also finished a page on a walk up to a hut in the Tararuas: Powell Hut (New Zealand)
25 September 1996	There is the beginnings of a new page at The Eastern Mamore Ridge.This is an account of one of my longer days walking in Scotland (4 Munros!). It differs from my usual page under construction in that its text is essentially finished - more photos to come!
17 September 1996	Mt Matthews is now finished. I have been busy scanning pictures: my sundry photos page now has 34 photos on it. This is probably too big for 1 page so I will probably split it up soon. I have a new format for my home page with a table of contents in a frame on the left hand side - have a look at it and tell what you think.
5 September 1996	On a new page (Sundry Photos) I have placed 16 more of the photos that I have taken.
1 September 1996	I have started a new trip report on a peak close to my home town (Wainuiomata) - Mt Matthews. Lately I have been stuck in town due to a foot injury. Today I used the great weather (a clear cool winters day) for a walk around Wellington. The views from Mt Victoria Lookout were exceptionally good with the gullies on Mt Matthews still full of snow from last Thursdays snowfall and the Tararuas filling the skyline above the Hutt Valley. There is still a fair bit of snow on the Tararuas above about 1300m. I hope it stays there long enough for me to have a tramp through the snow.

15 July 1996	The Pennine Way (England & Scotland) is done! All the text has been written and all the photos are there. Have a look! I have added a blurb to my home page (which has also been revamped a bit) that I'll leave for a week or 2.
7 July 1996	I have finished the trip report for the Travers - Sabine Circuit. I think it is a must-do walk. Have a look at my report and see if you agree. I have started to place links to hut information in my trip reports to my new page of NZ huts (see below). The All Blacks (NZ) have beaten the Australian rugby team by the massive score of 43 to 6 (6 tries to none!) in a dazzling display of ball skills. Made even better by the bad weather conditions - lots of rain, very wet underfoot and a strong, cold southerly. The All Blacks lead 26 to 6 at half-time having played into a wind that most people would have given the other team an 18 point advantage.
28 June 1996	Yet another new page! For some time I have had space on the free home page server at GeoCities. Its about time that I put it to more use so I have added a page of NZ huts that I have visited. I have loaded all the photos onto my The Travers - Sabine Circuit page.

17 June 1996	I have just come back from a trip to Powell Hut in the Tararuas. Mt Ruapehu is erupting again!
12 June 1996	New trip report started! The Travers - Sabine Circuit is the best trip that I have done in NZ yet. So far I have just added a few photos and will add more soon. The images are fairly big (40-50k) so be patient - they are worth the wait. I am also experimenting with a new layout for the reports - the unordered list is dead, long live lists with colourful bullets. The weather here has turned bitterly cold (6C high in Wellington) with hail-storms. The good news is that the hills have now a good covering of snow. I am now looking around for my warm gear in anticipation of a bit of snow-bashing in the weekend.
3 June 1996	I have revamped my tramping summary page. It is now a lot more colourful, better organised and more up to date. I have passed the halfway point in completion of the text on my Pennine Way pages.
25 May 1996	I have removed my Java index (soon to be replaced by a better one). A new trip report is being completed - Avalanche Peak (1833m) in Arthur's Pass, New Zealand. This is on a local internet providers site - cheap but a bit slow. From the 8th to the 14th of May, I was in the Nelson Lakes National Park, walking the Travers-Sabine Circuit. One of the best tramps in NZ - the view from Travers Saddle has to be seen to be believed. I have discovered animated GIFS - an easy way to add animation to web pages.
