9 December 2002	A second cousin once removed (Pauline Prostie) found my branch of the family via my web site. She shared her research into her family tree (the Davis & Mower families) which rekindled my interest in genealogy. 9 April 2002	Yahoo Geocities have decided to make people pay to FTP updates to their sites. This means that my automatic updating of my web site no longer works. The alternative is to use the browser tools which are manual and slow. Therefore my Geocities site will no longer have current content. See My Real Site for the real stuff. All the links on the Geocities site will eventually point to the real site. After a few months I will replace the Geocities content with automatic redirection to the real site.

28 November 2001	The mirror of this site at my local ISP now has the menus working. A new hut - Carroll Hut - from Gary & Melinda Taylor
3 October 2001	I now have a mirror of this site at my local ISP. The only difference is that the fancy menu is not working there for some weird reason. Eventually this will be my only site and you can say bye-bye to the Geocities pop-up ads forever!
23 September 2001	A new trip report on the Routeburn Track, one of New Zealand's finest walks through beech forest, alpine meadows and mountains. Another hut - Blyth Hut - from Neil Richardson.
22 September 2001	Geocities have decided to enforce an obscure limit on the free web pages - a site can deliver only 3 gigabytes per month (evaluated on an hourly basis, i.e. about 4.3 MB/hour). If a site goes past the hourly limit then it is disabled for the next hour. The limit looks large but it turns out that if someone browses through all of my Big Picture Gallery within an hour, my site is disabled! The solution is to copy my site to my local ISP where I have some space available and change the Geocities pages to pick up images from there. This has been done for many of my pages- hopefully without breaking anything. There have also been some layout changes for my main pages.

1 August 2000	My first new trip report in a while - the Pelorus River Circuit, a 5-6 day loop walk in the Mt. Richmond State Forest with some eerie landscape and a scenic river.
4 April 2000	Added 12 more photos to the Big Picture Gallery.
13 March 2000	Maps have been added to the Abel Tasman Coastal Track, Travers - Sabine Circuit, Lake Angelus, Holdsworth - Jumbo Circuit and Powell Hut trips.
16 February 2000	I have started to scan in maps for some of my trips. The scanned maps are fairly large ( 80-120 KB) but have lots of details.
25 January 2000	More huts: Browning, Dun Mountain, Middy, Rocks and Roebuck for a total of 59 huts described.
