Mt Cook is the centerpiece of the Mt Cook National Park. It is also the
highest mountain in New Zealand at 3744m. The Maori name for it is
appropriately Aoraki - "cloud-piercer". The height was 3754m until a couple of
million tonnes dropped off the summit in a massive landslide in 1991.
The photos on this page were taken on a bus trip around the South Island
that I took in 1995 to remind myself what is down there.
