FENG SHUI SOCIETY OF NEW ZEALAND NEWSLETTER
VOLUME 1, ISSUE 1 NOVEMBER 1999 The launch of the Feng Shui Society of New Zealand took place at the Heritage Hotel in Auckland on the 28th October 1999. The scene was set with a Chinese orchestra playing and singing traditional Chinese music. To pay homage to the fact that we are in New Zealand and recognise the Maori facet of this great land Mr. Perima Poata and his group performed the Powhiri for us. It was very emotional and the strength, purpose and humility of this great man moved everyone. The speakers were extremely well appreciated and with a potpourri of subjects provided a rare insight to the mysteries of Traditional Chinese Feng Shui. The keynote speaker was Mr. Richard Webster the accomplished author, who delighted everyone with his talk on "Numerology Magic". With audience participation, he demonstrated the magic square and how to create your own personal yantra using your date of birth. He then (by courtesy of one brave lady who provided her date of birth for all to hear) went on to give an interpretation of the numbers and so give the brave lady (for her courage) an understanding of events past and present in her life. We were disappointed that Cate Bramble could not be with us due to ill health, but have no doubt she will be with us next year and send her our best wishes for a speedy recovery. The raffle proved a great success with the first prize being an on-site audit by Danny (our president) , a signed book by Richard Webster (Feng Shui for Beginners) and a gift donated by the Rivendell chain of shops. It was a very exhilarating evening being the first of the Society and proved to be exceedingly successful. On March 30th 2000, in the Peter Healey room at the Heritage Hotel in Auckland, Raul De Soroa from Brazil will be guest speaker. Raul will also facilitate a 3-day 'Flying star' workshop hosted by Feng Shui Consultants New Zealand. Like the society, I too am experiencing a "New beginning" in the sense that I have never before edited a newsletter. However, I hope that we will both grow with our sights set firmly on delivering positive insight and awareness of your requirements into the depth and enjoyment of Traditional Chinese Feng Shui. To ensure we accommodate your requirements, it is essential that we know what they are. Therefore I urge you to let us know what you are expecting from us as a Society, or just let us know how much you enjoy reading our newsletter. Perhaps you would like us to include a special feature? We welcome your input , so phone or write to us and that should facilitate deeper interest in Traditional Feng Shui together with the knowledge that it can become more that just a hobby and more a way of life. Remember, "Who looks outside dreams; who looks inside wakesGui Currently the Feng Shui Industry in New Zealand is growing at a very fast rate but is fragmented and completely unregulated. Anyone can set themselves up as consultants without any background or training. The Feng Shui Society of New Zealand has been founded with the following intentions:
This is going to take effort and commitment to do this and we the inaugural committee of the Feng Shui Society of New Zealand have made this commitment. Danny Thorn Benefits of becoming a member of New Zealand's first professional, non-commercial organisation of Feng Shui:
