Trevor parker built ZK-TLP completely from plans.  It first flew in1998

He has won many awards for his workmanship and although it is now twelve years old with 985 hrs on the clock, it still looks as though he just finished it.

I drove to Tauranga where he keeps it hangarred and he took me for a short flight out over Matakana Island.

The take off and landing was very smooth despite some crosswind.  It Taxis like its on rails. Really smooth.

Trevor did all the upholstery himself and the instruments are very well laid out.  He has sufficient instrumentation for night flying  Toe brakes are only on the pilot side

The landing gear on this bird is something else.  It has Oleo (Air oil shock absorbers) for all three wheels and the nose wheel is steerable (not castoring).  The landing light is recessed into the cowl and pops out automatically when switched on.

The canopy slides backwards on rails but when closed the seam almost disappears.  The tinted canopy is one of the few parts that Trevor bought.

Here you can see the canopy in the open position and the flaps at 45°.  The flaps also position at 10 and 28°.  Trevor generally lands with 28° of flap and takes off with 10° on seal.

Fuel is stored in two 50 litre fibreglass wing tip tanks, well away from the cockpit in the event of a crash.  Additional tanks can be built into the wings near the fuselage.

Trevor even made his own propellor and is now making wooden propellors for others.

TLP is powered by a 150HP O-320 E2A Lycoming engine.   Cruise Speed is approx. 128 knots (144mph). Endurance is about 2.5hrs giving a range of 375miles

Stall speed is around 45 knots (54mph) with or without flaps.  To quote Trevor "Stalls are so docile that you have to be on to it to detect that it has actually stalled. A very slight nose drop followed by immediate recovery."
