I have just recently starting playing with the
Vector Pen and Preset shapes. Just by chance one day I discovered a quick and
easy way to make a mitten when I was drawing a snowman.
Supplies needed
PaintShop Pro (I am using version 9)
Some patience and a love of all
things PSP
OK, lets get started!!
First off make sure that you have got the pattern you want to use for the
mitten, in the Background and the Foreground on transparent.

Pattern I used, right
click and save

Step 1:
Open a new image, 400x400 will do for now.
Step 2:
Grab your Eclipse tool
with
a check in
a) nodes showing
b) create as a vector
c) anti-alias

Step 3:
Draw a Roundish shape about 233 x 206

Step 4:
Right-click on the canvas and select the Covert to path
option

Step 5:
Click on your pen tool.

Step 6:
Now we need to add 3 more nodes, so hold down the Ctrl key on
your keyboard and at the same time click on a space between the top edge and the
right hand middle node and add 3 nodes along that line.

Step 7:
Click on the node number 2 and pull out and then click on the
arrow and pull out to make a more rounded shape. This is the thumb of the mitten

Step 8:
Now click on the node numbered number one and pull
back toward the top node to give it a straighter look , then adjust the node on
the other side to give it an even straighter look. Push and pull on the nodes
and the node arrows until you are happy with the shape of the mitten.
Right click on your Vector layer and Covert your
mitten to a Raster layer.

Step 9:
Goto Selections/Select All then Selections/Float. Then Effect/3D Effects/Cutout
and use these settings.

Step 10:
Selections/Select
None.
Time to make the Cuff!!

Step 10:
Draw another Eclipse shape about 233 x 70 click
on the Object Selection Tool (under your pen tool) and rotate the Eclipse shape
until it sits over the bottom of the mitten.
Right click on the canvas and Convert to Path. Add
a node to each end and then like before, push and pull your nodes and the node
arrows until you are happy with the cuff shape. I like the rounded shape and
this can be achieved by pushing and pulling on the node arrows.

Step 10:
Goto Selections/Select All then Selections/Float.
Now at this stage if you have EyeCandy 5/Textures/Animal Fur
you can give your mitten a fur cuff. with these settings
Pattern Tab

Hair

Lighting

Finished look for the cuff

or you can make some other effect like Effects/Texture/Blinds
Finished Product

Now they are not
perfect but it is a start don't you think...............lol
I am in the process
of making a flower as well.
