SLIDING COLOURS

This tutorial was written in PI 11 and assumes
that you have a working knowledge of PI.
MAKING THE TAG
TIP:
If you would like more spacing
between your letters you can either do Split text after you have typed your name
or you can put a tick in the Kerning box and add 3 (I find this enough most
times) and then click on the base again and type your name.
-
Open a new image 550 x 110 or (170 x 80 good forum size sig tag) and fill
with white.
-
Grab your text tool and choose a font and type your name, make
it 3D or 2D. At this stage we will add the shadow
to make it faster. I usually use these settings. If you would prefer a
transparent base leave the shadow off

-
I will be using a gradient that is common in PI
so that you don't have to make one. I used gradient 088 in the colour ramp
-
Goto Colour/Texture, then gradient, then Multiple Colours
option scroll and choose gradient 088
-
Click Ok.
-
Before clicking OK choose the second directional arrow from the
left.

-
With your name layer still Highlighted Right Click/Duplicate
(Shift D) your name
do this 7 times, making a total of 8 name layers,
(Under no
circumstance Do
Ctrl D as this will give you 8 separate images) What I have
is 8 names in the one image.
This is what my image layer
looks like in PI 11

OK now comes the fun Part :-))
-
Starting at the top, click on your adjust Material Options icon
again then..............
-
goto: Colour/Texture, making sure that the directional arrow is
still the second one highlighted, there should be at this stage O in the Hue
box and O in the ring box. ( do not do any adjustments in the hue box at
anytime in this tut) click OK twice.
-
close the eye in the top layer and hide your name, highlight
the next layer down (2) and.......
-
goto: Colour/Texture, making sure that the directional
arrow is still the second one highlighted, highlight the ring box and type 45,
click OK thrice.
-
close the eye in the top layer and hide your name, highlight
the next layer down(3) and.......
-
goto: Colour/Texture, making sure that the directional
arrow is still the second one highlighted, highlight the ring box and type 90,
click OK thrice.
-
close the eye in the top layer and hide your name, highlight
the next layer down(3) and.......
-
goto: Colour/Texture, making sure that the directional
arrow is still the second one highlighted, highlight the ring box and type135,
click OK twice. etc.......................
-
Then in (4) type 180, then (5) 225, (6) 270, (7) 315.

When you have done the 8 layers, (still with the bottom layer
highlighted) Right Click/Select all objects and click on the eye to hide your
layers. Please do not group! Lock each layer if you must so that they won't
move round in GA5
I am leaving the base layer white at the moment as it
will get quite heavy in the kbs if you do an elaborate background.
We also do not want to detract from the animation. You could
take the shadow off so you could have a transparent base as well.
Finally go to File/Save as and save as a UFO file.
On to Part two for the animation
