Carmen Renee Owen
was  born in the small town of Invercargill, New Zealand  in 1973.
She is a self taught artist and has always loved and excelled at
painting and drawing since she was a child.
Her passion for Celtic Mythology, Celtic History, Pagan
Spirituality & Religions such as Druidism, and Earth Mysteries, are the subjects she
enjoys bringing to life in her artwork.
In 1997 Carmen left New Zealand to live in Edinburgh, Scotland.
During her time there she took classes to hone her skills as a painter and
illustrator and also took up using pastels.
She also broadened her knowledge of her artwork subjects by taking
studies in  Celtic Mythology, Egyptology, Celtic History, Druidism and
Wicca and also studied the art of body painting which eventually lead to her
becoming a qualified Henna/ Artist.
Carmen returned to N.Z in 1999 after the tragic death of her Scottish fiancee Steve,
who died in an accident two days before the birth of their son Stephen.
Carmen and Stephen still live in New Zealand but return
often to visit friends and family.

Carmen has exhibited her artwork in New Zealand and overseas and also
sells reproductions from her studio which is situated in the picturesque
garden of her home.
Her pet rabbits and doves that roam around at their own
leisure make it a very tranquil spot to create in.
"I have always had a strong love of  Mother Earth and I feel inspired
when Im surrounded by natures beauty."
Her menagerie also includes a black cat called "Gypsy",
"Sorcha" a very energetic Boarder collie dog, a white Arab horse called "HouDat"
(who is the model for all the white horses & Unicorns in Carmens artwork!) and "Crystal",
Stephen's cheeky pony (who will no doubt feature in Carmens future artworks!)
