A tribute to

WAIKATO - the mighty MOOLOOs

Welcome to the home of the Ranfurly Shield, WAIKATO! No team has held the Shield for an entire season since the not so mighty Auks in 92. That coupled with the fact they made the NPC final, easily made the Mighty Mooloos the rugby team of 98.

Find out how the boys are going in 1999 on my fixtures page.

NOTE - this page has nothing to do with that lame loser outfit known as the Chiefs. This page is about winners, namely WAIKATO!

Yes, the boys did it again, fourpeating at the national sevens, a feat no other team has achieved. Read the sevens report to see some pictures. Just further proof that they are "the best there is", "the best there was" and "the best there ever will be".

So what else is there to say? Not much really, so come meet the boys in my picture gallery. Many thanks to visit XTRA Rugby for letting me use some of their photos.

MOOLOOs in action....
Everyone one of them is a bloody hero!

You da man! It's Scotty Mcleod

We'll miss ya Hops. Aaron Hopa RIP 1998

Here's a man with a bright future, it's Bruce Reihana

This is where the shield should always be!

It takes a lot to stop the Big Rig Mark Cooksley

No matter how big they are Todd Miller will take em on!

Plagued with injuries in 98, expect a big one from Nick Holten this year

Little Rhys Duggan is always there on the tackle

When he aint kicking goals he's setting up tries - he's Matthew Cooper

Nick Mantell will be dueling for the hooking role with Greg Smith

He's the leader of the pack, it's Dion Muir

Even the power of Joeli can be stopped by Waikato- Cooper and Mcleod in tandum

Will Greg Smith emerge as the number one hooker?

With a surprising turn of speed Dean Anglesea is a tearaway

The hard man of the front row and leader of those lame Chiefs, Michael Collins
