Recorded with painstaking care over 12 months (March 2001 - April 2002), The Garden is a spellbinding song cycle which presents the best of David Khan's song/lyric material composed in the late 1997 - late 2001 period.
In many respects this new album represents a culmination of David's previous efforts, with the Drawing Room, DiS & BOCCTAHNE, to create music with a new grace & subtlety.
Although there are moments of noise & intensity on The Garden, for the most part, the album places an emphasis on space & silence. Adopting a simple-is-beautiful approach throughout, David flavours his quiet, intimate, piano/voice arrangements with a carefully considered palette of atmospheres, found sounds & effects.
