Some 12 months of recording experiments were edited & distilled in the preparation of this, Ed's first solo album, released on kRkRkRk in April 2001.

Comprising a number of mesmerizing sequences generated from manipulation of electronics, guitar/amp feedback, analogue synth & digital-delay looping, Fragmentation veers from harsh & violent distortion to gentle, introspective ambience.

Although, fundamentally, a collection of improvisations, the fairly disciplined & austere aesthetic, permeating the album, tempers potential indulgences. Recorded on Ed's Tascam 414mkII portastudio, most of the pieces consist of only one or two individual tracks - a strategy which tends to concentrate, rather than water down, sonic textures & essences.
