Brainlego (the collaborative project of kRkRkRk founders J-mz Robinson & Peter Wright) rose from the ashes of TMA-1 towards the end of 1994. The title of the project was inspired by an Einsturzende Neubauten song from their 1985 Halber Mensch album. The initial incarnation of the duo was as a tongue-in-cheek punk-pop covers outfit. In this mode they quickly recorded & released the gloriously silly Stickiest Creamy Instant kRk028 tape in January 1995 - featuring contributions from CRUDE's Matt Middleton on clarinet. Occasional gigs materialised between 1995 & 1997 - as well as a few more recordings. One of these, Hirnschwamm (a fairly high-tech sounding bastardisation of Ministry & the Butt-Hole Surfers) appeared on kRkRkRk's 1992-97 compilation CDR The Sequel To Secret Burning Desire in December 1997. Brainlego subsequently went into an extended hibernation for several years. However, the old dog steadfastly refused to die &, during 2001, Peter & J-mz began working on new material in a more "art-oriented" electro-acoustic mode. Brainlego's final performance, for the time being, took place at the Christchurch Media Club on Armagh St. on the 22nd March 2003. This was also the final outing for The Beautiful Losers. With Peter's departure overseas not long afterward, both projects have been placed in suspended animation.
