The long awaited & definitive collection of Peter's home recordings, created between late 1990 & late 1993 (but mostly gleaned from the first two BGO cassette releases: Wank KRK003, July '93 & Expresso Spasm KRK004, August '93), Bent Gastropod Omnibus provides a fascinating overview of the formative period of one of kRkRkRk's most important contributors.

Reflecting Peter's enthusiasm & affinity, at the time, for material released by the Xpressway label & classic Flying Nun this compilation exudes a distinctly New Zealand flavour. Bristling with a remarkably sharp-sounding collection of abrasive & disenchanted pop songs, Bent Gastropod Omnibus exhibits flashes of wry humour - but the moodiness & introspection of the later In Vitro project is already apparent. Although there are obvious parallels to Peter's contemporaneous group project, TMA-1 (drum machines, tape loops, broken electronics etc…), this solo album is more heavily weighted towards guitar-based song/lyric material - suitably processed through the lo-fi, home recording noise & chaos filters.
