For those who were not able to attend our reunion, I think I can speak for everyone who
did, that the day went off well, and I think everyone enjoyed their trip to the 'Old House' on
Guernsey Hill Road, and then the look through the Museum at Waitepeka, which related to
people in the era of our Quertier's while living at Waitepeka.

Myself, while researching information, I learnt a lot about the district,
and the pioneers coming to South Otago in the early days.
I was most interested to find that our Quertier's were amongst the first in those early days, and the fact that Alf and Margaret settled at Waitepeka only 15 years after the first
settlers came to Otago, makes me feel they were very much part of our early history
here in South Otago.

Descendants came from as far north as Christchurch, and as far south as Invercargill,
to be together, and I do hope they feel it was worth it. We really appreciated everyones
attendance for the day, as it would not have been so successfull without the descendants
arriving. And it makes our (Howard, Joyce, and myself) time put into family history
really worth while when everyone shows such interest in what we have put together.

I would also like to thank the people who made themselves available to help out when the
time was needed. Great stuff!

Please feel free to contact me via email, especially if you are a descendant who could
not attend, so I can put your name on our family register.
We will then be able to keep in contact for future gatherings, and data that comes to hand.

Most contacts will be made via someone in the family with email, as we have no
costs involved to do this, and most people who change their physical address, still
hold their same email address.

Regards
Elaine.

PS I hope to be able to get posted some photos of Alf and Margaret that I now have,
for you all to see. But that might not be for a little while yet. Keep watching.

The piece of newspaper (above) taken from an inside wall of the house,
gave us good evidence that this was Alf's house.
The newspaper dated February 1876, Alf built his house in 1863, and moved south in 1881.
Also on the day, as Alf's jottings told us, we found that the
timbers had been morticed together, (without nails).
