arrived, the plains of the
South were covered with
tall tussock.
They had to be cleared,
ploughed and sown with
grass to produce the green grass paddocks as seen in
this view.

Larnach's Castle -

stands on a hilltop of
the Otago Peninsula
overlooking the
harbour and sea.
It was completed in
1887, and was home
of a banker polition, William Larnach.
Its 34 rooms cover
almost 4000 square
metres.
Now open to the
public has become a
symbol of Dunedin's
historic buildings.
