Q: How long have you kept Doves?

A: Rosemary has had White Doves and Fantail Doves at Bullendale Cottge for nearly twenty years now.

Q: Why can't we release the Fantail Doves?

A: 3 reasons really, because Fantails are not homing birds, they are slow flyers and likely to be preyed on by N.Z. Falcons.

Q: Where do the doves fly to when we release them?

A: They fly straight home to their Arrowtown Loft. Often they are home in less than 30 minutes.

Q: How are the birds delivered?

A: The birds arrive in beautifully decorated baskets with individual compartments for each bird.

Q: Will anyone show us how to handle the birds?

A: We make sure the birds are handled by an experienced person by being present to assist the couple release the birds, this ensuring an enjoyable time for all concerned.

Special conditions:

Dove releases may take place in any season of the year, but we will not release birds in snow storms, or heavy rain.

A release can take place at any time during the day, but no later than two hours before sunset, this is to ensure a safe return to the loft before nightfall.
