Shining Valour Information
Shining Valour is an attempt at making a game
similar to the classic Sega RPG series Shining Force. The game is viewed
top-down, and you wander around the world on various quests (inevitably ones
that involve saving the world from [enter bad guy here] who has risen up yet
again). The wanderings are punctuated by turn-based battles in which your
force fights a group of bad guys, sort of like a game of chess.
Features (or lack thereof) of Demo One
The first demo of Shining Valour is missing a lot of elements that
are found in Shining Force. This list is basically for Shining fans (and who
else would be visiting this site?):
-
No Save game feature (because there's no point - the demo isn't very long)
-
No intro (I've got it finished, but haven't done the graphics)
-
No real menu/item lists/stats page
-
No land effect in battles
-
No movement square variation
-
No dodging, critical hits or counter attacks
-
No experience gaining or levelling up
Hmm, looked at like that, the demo doesn't seem to have much at all.
Nevertheless, it still rocks, so go download it!
Grand ideas for the game
-
Spells will be divided up into sets - fire, storm,
necromancy and electric. An un-promoted wizard will get a linear succession
of spells like in Shining Force, but upon promotion he will be given the
choice as to which school of spells he wants to receive. Like being promoted
to Sorceror, he will begin his spells again, and only get spells in the
chosen school. Thus, there will be four fire spells to get, four storm ones,
etc. Ideally, there will be several wizards in the game, so you can fully
customise which magic your Force will get.
-
The party will split up at some point, as in Sword of Hayja.
They'll meet up again nearer the end, and you can choose a mighty Force from
all the characters.
And many more - but I wouldn't want to spoil the surprise.
Plus I don't realistically think this'll get finished, but I can still
hope...
