Where are we?

23 Otaika Rd - on State Highway 1, two hours north of Auckland one hour south of the Bay of Islands and one hour east of the Waipoua Forest

500 metres from the Visitors Information Centre (i site - 92 Otaika Rd) and down a right of way for a quiet night's sleep.

Off road parking by the front door or call us on 438 8886 for a free pick-up.

An easy, level 15 minute walk into the city centre. Five to ten minute walk to the closest supermarket. Beautiful Raumanga Reserve is just across the road.

One hour south of the Bay of Islands and one and a half hours from the Waipoua Forest where the 2,000 year old giant kauri tree 'Tane Mahuta' (Lord of the Forest) dwells.

The perfect base while you explore Northland and the Far North. Lighten your load and we will store it free of charge - just pick it up on your way back down!

Transport

Bus - Northliner Coach, Intercity, Stray, Magic or Naked Bus - A quick call from the bus terminal and Pete or Noell will pick you up and return you when you are ready to leave. Kiwi Experience, Magic and Great Sight buses will drop you at the Information Centre and we will also pick you up from there.

Plane - Shuttles and taxis will transport you from the airport.

Accommodation

Our gracious kauri villa was built in the early 1900's when the pride and detail of workmanship enhanced the enjoyment of a home and the felling of the kauri forests of Northland provided a rich source of income for the early settlers.

Our small friendly backpackers caters for 22 guests - just bring your sleeping bag, food and enjoy Peter's sense of humour or challenge Noell to a game of scrabble or backgammon! We provide -

Animal Lovers

Tali - Our latest addition. Sage follows Noell and Tali follows Sage! She may be pretty but a typical cat, we are her staff! She is a blue point Birman and her name means 'my morning dew' in Hebrew.

Sage - our gentle labrador/ retriever cross.
