Tramping Trips

A selection of a few tramping trips that I have done (some of these with the Christchurch Tramping Club)...

Lake Mavis - Williams Saddle - Summer 2002/2003

Three days of good weather forecast, started with a tramp up the Mingha River to Goat Pass, then straight up to Lake Mavis, where I camped beside the partly frozen lake.
The next day I continued up and over to Tarahuna Pass, and then down the Edwards Valley. From the Edwards hut, I climbed up to Williams Saddle where I camped. The next day I headed back down to Mingha and out.

Traverse - Sabine - Blue Lake - Lake Angelus, Nelson Lakes National Park - Winter 1999

Having tramped up the Traverse (with side trip to Cupola basin) and over Traverse Saddle, I hung a left at the Sabine River and headed on up to "Blue Lake". This beautiful small lake has an amazing blue colour when viewed from above.
Down the Sabine to Sabine Hut, then a huge climb up Mt Cedric and along the snowy tops to Lake Angelus. This is a shot of the Lake Angelus Hut. From there it was a pleasant stroll down the Robert Ridge back to the carpark.

White River - Barker Hut - Arthurs Pass National Park - Spring 1997

A trip with the CTC up the White River to Barker Hut.

Avalanche Peak - Crow River - Mt Bealey, Arthurs Pass National Park - Summer 1998

A very popular trip up over Avalanche Peak (immediately behind Arthur's Pass Villiage) and over into the Crow Valley. Mt Rolleston is in the background. On this trip I came back out over Mt Bealey back to the villiage.

The Spurs, Rakaia, Canterbury - Spring 1997

Ascending "The Spurs". Lake Coleridge is in the background with Mt Hutt (i.e. skiing) way in the left-background. Here's the full trip report.

Annette Plateau, Mt Cook National Park - Spring 1997

Annette Plateau is on the Sealy Range just above Mt Cook villiage. Here we are looking west towards the main divide.

Three Pass Trip, Arthurs Pass National Park - Spring 1997

A popular trip crossing the main divide of the South Island three times. Here we are at Park Morpeth hut and here's the full trip report.
