Western Warrior's Rugby - Team Members |

These are the old and not so old farts who have turned up for a game this year - some may still be
playing, some may have fallen by the wayside as the year has passed, but all have enjoyed the game of
rugby (followed by an amber ale post match)! Past members can be found here, they have a habit of
turning up with boots in hand at any moment.

Johnny "no knees" Butcher - Manager of the team and the knee surgeons favourite, has had more operations
on his knees than most professional players and still manages to hobble from ruck to ruck. Competes with
Kenny to see who has the most padding on their legs.

Murray "I'm a tiger" Lonergan - comes off the field battered and bruised, but knows there are a few
No. 8's and second fives feeling the same after his "tigerish" tackles from first five!

Barry "the assasin" Soljan - Soljy is one of our more senior players (old bastard) who plays in the
centres but has been seen propping on a bad day. The happy croat with the assasins smile, likes to step
to the left, or is it the right (can't give the opposition to much info, eh Soljy)!

Doug "mad dog" Young - the happy hooker with the rabid mad dog reputation. Like a terrier after a
rag doll, will not leave the frontrow fatties alone when in the tackle. Hands like velcro, never passes
the ball as it takes too long to unstick the palms.

Duane "BDL" Noy - crazy lock, has been known to turn up and play for the Senior teams at the start
of the preseason games when the ground is as hard as rocks, need I say more!

Grant "hookers rule" Pringle - can fill most spots in the scrum, one of our young guns with speed
and energy to burn. Being a new father will slow him down for sure!

Andy "bowl 'em over" Julian - AJ enjoys the odd game of cricket and has been known to bowl a few
maidens in his lifetime. Does his marauding off the side of the scrum, using his medium fast, or is
that fast medium pace to snare an opposition player.

Jason "really ref" Morgan - one of the new boys in 2002, has a secret to keep, but has inside knowledge
on how to gip the refs! A backline specialist with speed to burn - where it is we do not know!

Rod "the terminator" Lang - Rod is our hitman on the side of the scrum. Tries to cut all ball carriers
in half when he tackles, unfortunately he doesn't always make the distinction between opposition and
his own team players! If, after a hit, he gets lost on the field, we point him toward the ball carrier,
he knows what to do.

Malake "the samoan terminator" Togia - the dark version of Rod, but at least he only picks on the
opposition players. His flashing leg tattoos are all you see as he flies through the air at the targets.
Has been a prop and lock ring-in, but normally on the side of the scrum.

Charlie "horse" Farley - Charlie rampages with the forwards all around the field like a charging bull,
but it's his tackle that has made him infamous. Believe the Dick of the day was modelled on it!!
|

Bruce "the albatross" Farley - Bruce guards the centres not letting any one through due to his huge
wingspan and the body built to stop a Mac truck, and to think he gets his strength from picking flowers!!

Mike "the jolly pirate" Evans - bald headed prop who went into retirement for one year but couldn't
leave the game to a bunch of refs who don't know how to ref the game like his one eye does, so is back
to keep them on their toes (mind you, in the pressies grade there is always 31 refs on the field)!

Jimmy "pukeko" Green - deaf as a doorknob but one of the gutsiest players on the field, bounces out
of the tackle like a rubber band man then gets up for more, and would play every position on the field,
except he's built like a beanpole.

Hec "the energiser" Hepburn - Hec is the perpetual motion man of the team (every team needs one),
pops up all over the field and can fill any position, although he never volunteers for the front row.
Plays a mean guitar and a mean game as well!

Wayne "sly bastard" Harris - part of the old fart duo in the centres with Soljy, when both of these
buggers are smiling, you know they've hatched a sly little plan that Harry normally starts, and Soljy
buggers up!

Simon "I'll wait for you guys to catch up" Lean - normally plays wing or halfback, known to sneak
up a few metres on the wing and wait for the backline to catch up with him before accelerating away!

|
|
Roger "don't call me Christian" Blundell - bloody marvellous handsome brave bugger with silky skills
from the back, often has to stop the opposition cause the 14 in front of him don't, score all the tries
cause the 14 in front don't, would jump in the lineout, prop in the scrums and scramble in the rucks
but has a brain ...also editor of this site!

Any similarity to any of the Warrior team members is entirely accidental, it's pointless to influence
the editor's choice of words and pictures without at least a dozen Lion Reds!!
