I have identified a
number of areas where I would like to upgrade my car. The reasons are:
-
To make it look
nicer
-
To make it sound
nicer
-
To make it go
faster
-
For
fun!
I have yet to identify a timeframe (some
over coming weeks/months, some years down the track!) or order which I intend to
do these upgrades. Depends on my financial situation and free time. Also because the car
is still under warranty I have to be careful what upgrades I
do to my car lest it voids my
warranty.
Latest updates on any additions or
modifications I have made to my car will be headlined at the top of this
page. Currently I am in the process of sourcing audio equipment for
the car in anticipation of getting it professionally
installed.
Below I will show you
the different areas where I intend to upgrade my
car.
Front - I
would like to put in a front spoiler kit, if I can find it! Either similar
to the 1998 Glanza models or like the one as pictured at http://www.geocities.co.jp/Milano/2763/ep91ext.jpg.
My friend Kamal also mentioned Knight Rider lights on the front grill...
I'm still thinking about that :)

Wheels and Exhaust
-
New 15 or 16" alloys. Falken 205/65 tyres. Larger exhaust system to increase power of
the car. Probably with a 2 or 2 1/2 inch chrome exhaust. Possibility
of looking at better suspension further down the
track.
Engine
- Put in a K&N Air Filter, blow off valve, reposition the intercooler to
the front and perhaps even replace the Turbo with a more powerful
one.... something to think about way way down the
track...
Interior
- I intend to replace the original headdeck
and front speakers. The front speakers will be replaced with
better 10cm(4") speakers in original position with tweeters. The headdeck is a
toss up between the Pioneer DEH-8050 or VDO CR3300 with
remote control (of course it has security features such as removable face
plates). The Pioneer is very expensive though..I also want a 10 or 12
disc CD stacker placed either in the boot or under passenger front seat. I am
also tempted to put in a graphic equaliser to use up free DIN
and make the interior look nicer with flashing
lights.
Boot - In the
boot I intend to put in a couple of 8" subwoofers to be driven by my
amplifier which will
either sit under the driver's seat or vertically attached to the back
of the back seats. The CD stacker might be placed in the boot
if space permits. It is a mandatory requirement that my subwoofers be easily removable so
that I can reclaim my bootspace if necessary. I envisage putting velcro
under the subwoofer boxes so that this is
possible.
Only time will tell if
I ever get to finish all my desired
upgrades!!
