Mrs Caroline Penn  of Akaroa  ----   age of 86,  she was a native of Notts, England --- came to NZ  in 1875  in ship  Tintern Abbey  with husband and family. -------   leaves 2 sons,  3 daughters,  and numnerous grandchildren.


London  -   LOUGHNAN  -   260
---on  22inst.  of Frances,  widow of the late Mr R.J.Loughnan,   -------   was born in Salisbury in 1821  --- in her 97th year  in April next --  met her husband in India -----    proceeded with daughter to England -----   went to Victoria, Australia  for 2 years ----   went Home again -----   emigrated to New Zealand  in 1858  settled at  "Tilford"  on Ferry Road,  Christchurch ----   named after his old home in Surrey.  ---  in 1889  Mr Loughnan died  and 3 years later  Mrs Loughnan and 2 of her daughters,  returned to Europe --  in Rome  after 15 years there ------ went to London  where her death took place. ---survived by
4 sons and 4 daughters,  grandchildren  and great grandchildren.  sons  are:  
Mr R.A.Loughnan -  journalist  NZ Times,  editor of Lyttelton Times  for 15 years.
Mr H.H. Loughnan    City Solicitor   of Christchurch -    firm  Messrs Izard and Loughnan
Mr F.B. Loughnan  S.M.  of Blenheim
Mr C.A. Loughnan  of Palmeston North

Daughters  are  :
Mrs Geo. Harper  of Christchurch,        Countess de la Pasture  who lives in Usk, Monmouthshire,   the other 2 are unmarried.
