Whats going on.........................................?

Apologies for not updating our website for soooooo.... long, but moving to our new premises back in March/April took the stuffing out of all of us.  As a result all the added extras like newsletters, websites etc have gone by the wayside, and we'll try and update this page as soon as possible.

Well this edition of WAVE finds us on the cusp of an exciting move to our new Artsenta space at 81 Crawford Street. We’re sorry to be saying goodbye to 100 Great King Street base, which has been our home since May 1999, but are looking forward to the new opportunities that a new space can bring.

I can remember the day we moved in so clearly, with everyone carrying endless boxes up the main staircase, and one artist ending up in A&E due to an awkward door getting in their way!! We will take with us some wonderful memories with us of this place, and of all the friends that shared it with us.

Our new space, is somewhat bigger at 850 square metres, and has been used for A&P shows, a dance hall, and roller skate venue, (amongst other things) in the past. We will be moving in mid March, and so our regular programme of events (including outreach) will be affected—see details on page 9 ). We will also be having a big party to welcome everyone to the new building, but this will be after we have had a chance to settle in a little.

I have recently been up to Wellington to meet with new Arts Access CEO Ann Sharley. Apart from being very hot (which was nice for a change), it was so good to meet up with Ann, and people from other Creative Spaces around NZ. Of particular note was an opportunity to see the new Vincents space on Willis St. Its always good to find out what is happening around the country, and what new iniatives are occuring.

I will get back to packing stuff into boxes, and look forward to seeing lots of friends and supporters at the new Artsenta space in the coming weeks.
