This picture was taken during a meeting of representatives of the Polish Home Army with Soviet officers. The commanders of the Polish Army were greeted very cordially, contact with them was established and their knowledge of the country put to a good use, but when the fighting was over they were invited to conferences from which they never returned. In some cases Polish Commanders were executed, in others they were imprisoned or deported to the East.
