Appeal for volunteers.
I started to translate my book "Too young to be any good, STIIL JUST A KID" You can see the project on
http://www.andrzej-anonimus.net
and http://www.andrzej-anonimus.com/. (Google search; An exciting book by Andrzej Anonimus: WW II trough kid's eyes from a bottom of hell, where 22% of population died; war secrets direct from a horse mouth.) The world as it is now, was born as a result of WWII ("nam paritur pax bello") and certainly was at crossways then and there, it could as well perish. Yet now, the Moon, Mars and whatever are surely better known, than Earth during that critical time.
The ignorance, particular of the postwar generation is astonishing indeed, and surely the less known part is about Poland.
What concerns us, the point is, that it is the merit of Poland alone, that the Western Democracies survived 1939. Everybody now remembers, that the UK, by themselves, opposed Hitler for a long time, at a serious cost of blood, tears and sweat, yet nobody mentions, that in 1939 Poland saved the skins of both allies, UK and France, at the cost of her own skin.
With France it was bad business, the French lost willingly anyway. Regarding England, it was worth everything. But if France had to capitulate already in 1939, England would not have been able to survive during this time. The best Churchill could have done, would be to have to continue the war from the Colonies. That's why Hitler insisted so strongly on the offensive in west from the beginning, still in 1939, but die Wehrmacht spent all their potential, only about 25% of tanks remained in service, there was a lack of ammo, even 'die Luftwaffe' had no bombs left etc.
Agreed, the Poles were not exactly determined to committing suicide to save the free world. The combination of Poland, France and England was definitely the stronger, chances looked good enough. If the allies acted fair, Hitler never would win over the campaign, not to mention, he would be set aside by his own Army by orders of Gen Ludwig von Beck.
Moreover neither the Poles, nor the Allies were aware, that Stalin was backing Hitler all the way from the very beginning. Certainly not a pure love, but both monsters had a mutual purpose: first start the war and only afterwards decide, who shall take the whole lot and remain alive.
This is a long forgotten world, in fact an exotic and strange universe. One thing is sure, this book could be written only by someone with personal experience. Anyway, experience is not enough now and I appeal for any possible help of volunteers with not only experience, but rater a knowledge and expertise of correct English, my translation certainly shall not be good enough. I shall appreciate very much even the shortest causal help, beginning with a single page and if any person expresses a wish to be mentioned, I shall write in the URL my thanks. Besides, I think participating in this proposal may be both fun and pleasure.
