Looking to the west from my favourite spot.
The island is still visible in this shot, taken from the next bay.

The two photos below are taken from the same area later in the day.

The mountains of the South Island are just visible in the distance in this photo taken at sunset.

These dahlia stand 3' tall

The rocks fascinate me.

Every day there is something different to discover.

From the various types of seaweed to the shells,
the stories they could tell of the places they have been.

The beauty of form and colour can take your breath away.

The thing I really like about the image used in the heading for this page is that, hopefully, it means we will never again be presented with images such as this one of my 6' tall son standing knee deep in water outside his bedroom door.
The 1.8 meter diameter pipes are about to used to replace the storm water drainage system that was not designed to cope with the upsurge in housing development here in Island Bay.   Once completed, the chance "once in 50 years" deluge of rain (that happened twice within 6 months), should not cause such disruption and so much mess.
Those pipes again.  This time outside the house waiting to be put in place.
Yes indeed, they sure are big.  Here's hoping they have fixed the problem.
