These three works evoke a Romantic historicism from which homoerotic visions and readings have been traditionally drawn. I set out to consider relationships to notions of beauty and the sublime, fear and decay in ambiguous, floating immateriality. The struggle for survival underwater is a metaphor for life as a heroic journey: into the abyss!

This work is in contrast to work in my 2003 gallery addressing the same erotic impulse toward the object of desire through contemporary electronic media.
