Pictures from Otago New Zealand

New Zealand's population is 3.7 million while Otago has a population of around 180000. Dunedin has a population of 120000.

Otago has a diverse landscape from the subtropical rain forests on the west of the alps to the semi dessert conditions of Central Otago with a continental climate. Coastal Otago has a cool climate and many people claim the coastal hills and climate are very similar to Edinburgh in Scotland. Local Maori have lived in the area for many hundreds of years and 150 years ago Dunedin was settled by the Scots. Dunedin derives it's name from the Gaelic version of Edinburgh.

Today Otago's industry includes tertiary education, adventure tourism, forestry, gold mining, farming, fruit growing, wineries and producers like Cadburys. Peter Dick Optometrists Dunedin practice started four generations ago in 1915
