In the instance of a points draw, team finishing times are used to determine placings. Teams finishing in the same minute with the same score are declared equal.

  Most visited checkpoints

  Chkpt # Teams   Descrptn
11 51   The old fence post behind the new fence on the road bend.
13 52   The western of two taller yound pines in the felled shelterbelt.
24 52   The old plough up near the trak junction.
  what of the big pointers…
1 44   The broken trig at the top of the range. Interesting that only 18 found the bonus, another older trig head 140m downwind (southeast).
4 45   The tussock found by lining up the tips of the stone posts.

Only 29 teams visited 90, my favourite checkpoint, in the "canyon".
While 44 teams went to the highest point on the map (chkpt 1) only 43 teams found 82 ("the clevage"), and only 28 found "the handhold" at 83.
83 was a tricky site, with lots of unmapped crags. The key to finding the correct crag was using the circle location relative to the contour features
    and largely ignoring the rock.
Of the 44 teams to summit, only 37 went for the grand traverse from checkpoint 1 to 2 (or vice versa).
14 teams bagged all the 100 pointers, but only 6 of those 14 got the bonus at checkpoint 1.
And only 1 team got all the 100 pointers, the bonus at 1, and the kowhai seed…and that was team 1, those unstoppable "Oldies" who are
living legends, never fail to show us all how it's done, and simply inspirational.

45 1   A rocky finger that once held a support for where the old water race was conveyed, probably by a flume, around through a cave in the rock face between two gullies.
Perhaps some struggled with this tag as the gully with the blue stream was smaller than the gully without the blue stream.
37 2   A manufacturers tag on the wire at the bend of the new fence where it turned to cross the Sutton Stream.

62 was another tricky site due to the stream shown on the map being dry and vague.
Only 5 teams found the bonus kowhai seed. There were two trees that I found, between checkpoints 73 and 91.
What struck me as amazing about the kowhais was they were such healthy large trees growing randomly in an otherwise barren and harsh landscape.

And what's with those clues ? …some of the more obscure clues are revealed here….

and A WORD or TWO from Me…..

Well I'm really stoked with such a great turnout and the positive feedback. Most appeared to have a good time!

Well done to those who came along for the first time and gave it a good go. Those who have done a few of these sorts of races will agree that
it does take a couple of events to get into the tune of pinpointing the hidden clues. Generally I like to find unique places
to "hide" the tags, with a few obscure ones thrown in, part of the challenge includes knowing when to give up on a clue
  that cannot be found.

As always I'm keen to hear feedback. Let me know what you found interesting, too hard, too easy, too dull, or too exciting!
Suggestions for improvements are keenly welcome.

Stay tuned for future missions with an E.P.I.C. twist!!
