July 13 7:30 to 8:00 Orange and red-orange patches extending to form a band.

July 15 16:55 Red glow in S, 20 wide, elev 20.
            17:00 to 17:10 A homogeneous ray bundle formed by Crux at first and then a stronger bundle with distinct rays started under eta Carinae. A minute later a second bunch appeared under the Pointers. They all reached to 15. Shortly after, the display disappeared and no more sign of it. Dawn at 18:05.

            19:00 to 19:30 Mostly pink glow with thin white rays that had a 'rainbow glow' about them. Slightly moving like a curtain.

            19:30 to 20:00 Red glow on S horizon. Seen until dawn.

July 16 12:45 to 14:00 Huge bands coming and going across the sky. Also rayed bands, patches and rays. They were white and bright enough to blot out fainter stars. At one point the TransAntarctic mountains were lit from behind. The eclipsed moon looked cool surrounded by auroral bands.

July 20 07:30 to 09:00 Bright glow to the SE. Lot of cloud around.
                (S46 E170) - Dunedin to Invercargill, New Zealand @ 4000ft
            08:15 Sky partly cloudy. Glow SE to SW, IBC 2. Confirmed with spectroscope.
            08:30 Still brightest in SE, yellow to green, to 10. No rays or activity.
            09:00 Sky now overcast.

            NTR Faint glow to S.

            09:40 Noticed diffuse yellow and red tinged glow in SW while driving car home. S view blocked by trees.
            10:05 Now walking dog! Brilliant white ray bundle to 40 elev, about wide in S seen through bare trees. Gone minute later. Reached clear view and saw a green rayed arc az 170 to 250; bottom 5, top 10 elev. Rays to 20. In SW rays from horizon IBC 4.
            10:10 Now 'lumpy' rayed band and not as bright. IBC 3 except for emerald green patch in SSW; IBC 4.
            10:15 Just a rayed glow. Some rays to 30 elev. Beginning to cloud over.
            10:20 Cloud worse but glow still visible in gaps.

                Occasional beams or columns and light curtains. Also some flashes and a general pale colour in the S sky up to about 20.

July 28 07:30 to 09:30 Strong glow in SE to S and rays to 30 elev. Rays just visible from ground at Dunedin airport.

            08:00 to 09:00 Bright glow first of all and then at 08:40 a bright red patch in SE and three faint rays in S. Patch lasted about 5 to 8 minutes; the rays 2 to 3 minutes.

            09:20 to 09:35 Diffuse glow az 170 to 240, elev 10. IBC 2. No change in this time. Cloud E of 170.

July 29 08:30 Mostly overcast. Suspect glow on horizon, brightest in SE.
            09:30 Sky clear now. Low arc above horizon SE to SW. Faint rays.
            10:00 Similar for past hour. IBC 2 to 3. Short lived white rays reaching to 45. Red glow above arc in SW and W.

            10:45 Glow gradually getting repeatedly brighter and fainter but with no set pattern.
                (S46.9 E168.1) - Half Moon Bay, Stewart Is, New Zealand
                Rays, glow and patches, white, deep pink, green, some blue and dash of purple, all moving in various directions for about 5 minutes almost to zenith. Then stopped as quickly as they started and the display returned to lower glows of mostly green and a little white.
