                (S45.1 E171.0) - Oamaru, North Otago, New Zealand
            NTR Rapidly changing patches of green appearing in many parts of the sky with weak rays from the southern arc. Reddish low in the SE.
                (S45.3 E169.4) - Alexandra, Central Otago, New Zealand
            08:30 - 10:00 Bright, intense green arc. Brightest in SE where most of the rays were seen. Reddish tinged rays coming and going. Little movement. Elevations; arc base 15-20, arc 5-10 tall, rays to 45.
                (S45.9 E170.5) - Green Island, Dunedin, New Zealand
            08:40 - 09:00 Glow and band from SE to SW. Despite the Moon the aurora was quite colourful.

            09:00 Similar to earlier Green Island report. Purplish tinge to rays.

            09:40 - 11:30 Green band SE to SW, then a purple band and lastly a "good sized white band all aglow". Fairly well up to the zenith.

            10:00 Aurora slowly subsiding.

            11:30 Things started to move quite rapidly. Folding of "this, that and the other" and past the zenith this time, and all the colours of the rainbow. Lasted 5 minutes. Then back to mainly bands. Dog inside shed barked for this 5 minutes.
                (S46.4 E169.8) - Otekura, South Otago, New Zealand
                The "whole works" from 11:30 to 11:45; multi-colured rayed arc and band with yellow glow low in S and yellow patches. Possibly even a corona. The bands were folding. Flaming. Pulsating, flickering and sideways movement of rays. Forms faded quickly to be replaced by others. Rest of the night just rays and patches with occasional bands.

            12:00 - 14:00 Bright greenish display from approx. 150 to 270 and 60 elevation much of the time but occasionally to zenith. Rapidly pulsating rays and curtains. Some very bright areas mainly near horizon. Initially concentrated in SW to W quadrant but rapidly spread through to S and SE.

            09:00 - 14:00 Greenish yellowish arc SSE - SW, elev 15, IBC 2.

                Pretty green glow with a little white all evening.
            09:30 - 10:30 Some rays of white, deep pink and green would shoot up to near the zenith and perform for 2 or 3 minutes and then die down for awhile.

            10:30 Some rays up to elev 20 slowly moving from E to W over about a minute each. The glow brightened considerably at this time and then slowly faded at 12:00.

            15:00 approx. Single thin ray to 20.
            15:30 Faded somewhat.

Aug 27 07:30 - 17:30 Despite cloud being about most of the night, a very strong auroral display was observed to the S 70 wide stretching to some 40 - 50 elev. Rays were observed through most of the display when the clouds cleared away to the S at various times during the night. The glow in S was strong, brighter than Milky Way, the entire time.

            08:50 Arc with rays in S in early evening. Very bright at 08:50, but within 10 minutes faded to glow of varying brightness during rest of evening. IBC 3.

            09:25 Dull greenish glow from SSE to W to at least 30 elev. Couple of rays even though not dark adapted.

            09:30 Number of rays observed reaching to 40 or more.

                First noticed a greenish glow S and W to elev 35 (not dark adapted).
            09:40 Glow stretches from SSE to almost W arcing up to 35.
            09:45 Slight shimmer due S and beginnings of a faint ray due S.
            09:47 Ray to S built up to a strong beam to elev 50. It had a slight pinkish tinge. A hint of rays in SSE and one almost due W.
            09:53 Ray to S still quite steady: it seems to fluctuate W of S by 3 and then back again.
            09:55 Strong ray to S fading in and out. Two medium intensity rays about 15 E of S.
            10:00 General glow increasing to a height of about 45. Rays in S and SE pulsating in and out. Definite ray to W - quite pinkish.
            10:10 Rays decreasing in strength. Incoming mist and cloud making observations difficult.

            13:00 Southern horizon suddenly erupted in faint vertical rays 10-15 elev, lasting for less than a minute.
            13:00 - 16:00 Various small eruptions of faint single rays occurred each lasting a few seconds.

            16:25 A lot of fog around but faint glow just visible in clear patch to S.

Aug 29 approx. 09:00 Although Moon was shining and it was partly cloudy, very bright, large white patches were seen in E. The few rays were in S only making little movement. White glow in S also.
